Apparently I only blog in November, because here I am: blogging again. Life gets away from us, doesn’t it? Still, if choices must be made — and they must — I’d rather live my life than blog about.
And yet this momentous (or infamous) year has marched relentlessly on and we are staring down Thanksgiving, Christmas, and a New Year. My kids were discussing how quickly the year has gone by for them! Despite a global pandemic, months of isolation, school disruption (yes, even to us homeschoolers), mask mandates, election craziness, and just a general “off-ness,” they can marvel about how quickly 2020 has passed.
God is good. All the time.
Even in 2020 we have many things for which we can give thanks. Material blessings, of course. But the immaterial blessings even more so. Time is a blessing. Health is a blessing. Family is a blessing. Divine Grace is a blessing. My heart is full of gratitude for all these things.
What are you grateful for in this crazy roller-coaster year of 2020? Or could your gratitude reflex use a little brushing up?
Then I invite you and your family to join us in marking 30 Days of Thankfulness. You can read more here about how using November as a time to give intentional thanks became a tradition in our family. The short version: Each day of November, we discuss and write down at least one thing that we already have for which we can be grateful.
I’ve updated the ol’ Thanksgiving Countdown for 2020 and posted it below as a FREE PRINTABLE.
Use the buttons to download your own Thanksgiving Countdown, in either a letter-sized format, or — if your printer takes 4×6 size — a 4×6 index card option. (I printed mine in the 4×6 size on kraft cardstock, cut down from 12×12 sheets that I found here, but you can use whatever paperstock you prefer.)
I hope sharing this tradition helps remind each of us to be thankful, even in seasons of stress and difficulty. May your month be filled with gratitude!
God bless,
